The house is owned by Jürgen and Florentine, a couple from Germany who have spent decades exploring the world before choosing the tranquil beauty of Wilderness on the Garden Route as their home.
Jürgen, an avid golfer, brings his passion for the outdoors, refined living, and a keen eye for detail to the home’s inviting atmosphere.
Florentine’s many years as a long-haul purser with a leading international airline have given her extensive hospitality experience and a love for different cultures, ensuring every guest feels genuinely welcomed and cared for.
Together, they have gathered a collection of unique memorabilia from their travels around the world, filling Il Gattopardo with warmth, personality, and a sense of adventure. Each item tells a story, and every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to make your stay truly memorable.
A Name That Tells a Story
Il Gattopardo – Italian for “The Leopard” – is more than just a name. During their travels in Sicily, especially Palermo, the owners were inspired by the film “Il Gattopardo”, produced by Luchino Visconti in 1963, starring Claudia Cardinale and Alain Delon. The owners wanted a name as distinctive and memorable as their property.
